Sick cocktails...

I saw something very weird at a cocktail event today in our Divine bar from Parkview Square... The food stall was quite unique.... There was a lady in Japanese dress and looking like a geisha laid down among the food and you could serve sushi from her belly.... And the chef was putting sushi on her belly and the cocktail participants were picking from there... It was just sick... a real woman among all the food there.... She was totally disgraced....

And the second food stall with the same sick elements... mermaids ... with food on them and you could pick the food... and in the middle of the food stall the king of the sea looking over all those girls with food on them....

Sick... sick...sick.... I mean this is not even posh... this is sick... when you wanna show off and you don't know how to...

Apparently this is the latest trend in terms of cocktail parties.... Where is this world going????

Simple weekend

I had a very lazy weekend. I watched a movie Rumour has it. I bought two CDs, Coldplay X&Y and U2//How to dismantle an atomic bomb. I bought a huge candle for 5 SGD, I listened to music, I read all the leftover magazines and all the leftover books.

The CDs are great, I am listening them non-stop. The movie is OK, funny to see some familiar scenes :)

I also had my first mentorship session with the LCP of AIESEC NUS. Yeah, I am a mentor. Hope that the following sessions will be as fun as these ones.

Yeah, and this weekend was announced the PAI of 06-07. Embarrassing I would say. But yeah, at least it will keep me away from AI and all that kind of things.

And yeah I also ironed 5 shirts and cleaned my room. I am doing it every weekend anyway, so this is not new, more like a routine. And yeah, had to get into my office laptop and work a bit. I am getting addicted to work again, should go on a holiday before it becomes chronically.

Lazy weekend and very relaxing at the same time.

Close to the wildlife

No, I haven't been to Africa, these are pictures from the Singapore Zoo. I wish I would have been in Africa for a safari, but taking into the consideration my budget, I think the Singapore Zoo it is just fine. And I am not sure if there I would get that close to a lion without being its lunch.

I think Singapore Zoo is one of the best zoos in the world. As you might expect from Singapore, it has to be the best in the world and unique. Why is so cool? The animals are not in cages like in other normal zoos. They are free to walk around in a neatly defined area and you can get really close to them. You feel like walking around in the savannah and just looking around. You really don't feel that you are in a zoo. (Actually you could get him like this if you would want. It is a nice picture :) But let's save the animals :) )

I really enjoyed it, I was walking around for around 5-6 hours. It is huge and has so many animals and different settings. There is a Rain Forest setting where you feel like being in a real Rain Forest. And basically you are so close to some animals that you can touch them, of course it is not allowed and it is not that sexy to touch a bat :)

It is very educative in the same time. You can get some really useful information about each animal and why some of them are in danger because of the human activity.
There are so many different monkey types, it is just so cool. And if you catch the different animal feeding, it is just amazing. Seeing a 4 m crocodile eating a big peace of meet is quite impressive.
In spite of the fact that there are 35 degrees outside, you can see a huge polar beer, sea lions and some penguins as well. This zoo it is just cool :):):) I am very very excited about it and I am sure that will be back there soon to see the night safari, a unique thing.
(this is the proof that I would not be a good elefant as my foot is just too small and tiny :) )

I just love animals :):):)

15 days of fireworks

As you probably already know, this is the year of the dog according to the Chinese calendar. I am sure you already know the whole tradition of getting into this event. It is really sweet.

(This picture is actually from Changi Airport, the best airport of the world transformed into a big Chineze New Year Party Place )

Well here in Singapore of course it has to be something unique and something which is nowhere in the world. Here Chinese new year is a 15 days continuous celebration. For 15 days there were different events all over the town. My favourite was the Taiwanese drum concert and the open air Chinese movie festival where I saw a fantastic movie called
"Perhaps Love".

I was very impressed with the whole festival. The New Year's Eve wasn't that wild though, with that much of a big street party that used to be in european cities.

What was the most shocking for me that there were fireworks for 15 days every night near Esplanade at the bay. And when I say fireworks I am not talking about just 30 seconds and two rockets. I mean we are in Singapore, so it has to be the best fireworks in the world. I caught a few nights this show and I was impressed each time. It was just breathtaking.
I think they spent one million euro each night just only on fireworks. But yeah, that is Singapore, to have something that nobody has, to do something that nobody does. As their tagline says: "Uniquely Singapore". However if you think that they spend so much money for a 15 day fireworks and there are people who don't have anything to eat in the nearby countries, then you feel that maybe a 3 day fireworks would do just fine and you could use that money to help others.

Positive effects of the cartoons....

I decided not to comment anymore on this cartoon story, but just have to tell this funny story. I went shopping on Friday just to buy some stuff for the weekend. Was just browsing some cheese when I discovered this Arla Cream Cheese. Arla is one of the Danish companies which lost quite a bit of business in the Arab countries due to the boycott of Danish products. So I said let me try this, just to see what the Muslim people loose over there by boycotting these products, and just to compensate a bit the sales figures, as I think that it is stupid what happened to this Danish company.

Probably I would have never tried that cream cheese, I always used to buy Philadelphia from Kraft, if there is not this whole cartoon story. But I just found the best cream cheese ever!!! It is so delicious. For sure I will buy only this from now one. Hope though that the company won't go bankrupt because of the boycott in Arab world.... As you can see, these cartoons can have positive effects as well :):):)

The famous cartoons...

This thing about the cartoons became ridiculous. I think it has nothing to do as of now with the cartoons and became a much wider issue.

However it is frightening the fact that so many people are still heavily influenced by religion, I mean by people who use religion to pursue their interests.

It is also frightening that people form opinion, or feel offended, go and burn flags and embassies without even seeing the cartoons, just because someone told them that they are offending. Most of the people haven’t even seen the cartoons…. But they are rioting.

Well, violence is not justified even if they have seen the cartoons and felt offended.

Anyway, it is a complex topic and someone could write pages on this issue. I just want to share some resources Albert have found on Wikipedia abot this issue. I think can help anybody to get some good information and to have an overview about the opinions of the parties involved. Click here to access the site.

Peace for everybody.

The Singaporean sex scene

One of my local friends recommended a website when he realized that I am too horny, so I can explore the local delights from Singapore. This site presents the sex industry of Singapore and of the surrounding islands.

Well, I was a bit shocked about what I have read, though most of the things I already knew before. But not because I have tried those things!!! I haven’t tried and I won’t try!!!

Anyway, I just want to dedicate this site for Ludek, just to let him know that Singapore is a place he would enjoy :):):)

Match Point

Very good movie. Not that Hollywood type. Click here to find out more. Highly recommended :)

I still believe that you need not just luck, but hard work as well to succeed :) Interesting view on life though :) Somehow agree at the end of the day....

And been also once in that kind of comfortable relationship in which the dude was. But finished before things got too far.

Now I am thinking on watching it again. It is just very weird.... who knows, maybe the DVD version :)

The tipping point

I think most of the people read this book already. I read Blink (the authors previous book) quite a while ago, but somehow did not get a copy of this book. Now finally got it and read it :)

This is a book about how little things can make a huge difference and contribute to a fundamental change. This is not a typical advertising, marketing book, but definitely I can use a lot of things from there in my area. The premise of this facile piece of pop sociology has built-in appeal: little changes can have big effects; when small numbers of people start behaving differently, that behavior can ripple outward until a critical mass or "tipping point" is reached, changing the world.

Gladwell's thesis that ideas, products, messages and behaviors "spread just like viruses do" remains a metaphor as he follows the growth of "word-of-mouth epidemics" triggered with the help of three pivotal types. These are Connectors, sociable personalities who bring people together; Mavens, who like to pass along knowledge; and Salesmen, adept at persuading the unenlightened.

He has fantastic case studies in the book, analyzes the stickiness of different messages and it is a very useful material for those working in marketing and communication. It is about human behavior and how this behavior can be changed and influenced with proper tools. Isn't this what our job is all about?

Looking forward to find the tipping point in my relationships as well .....
